Chapter 4: Pregnancy and childbirthThis chapter addresses pregnant women and women wishing to get pregnant. Popular pages are about ultrasound in general and our 3D gallery. My principles: Pregnancy is not a disease. The pregnant woman should be followed with optimal medical technology and offered qualified and detailed informations. She should decide on her own whether she wants to perform prenatal testing and by what methods. Childbirth should be an enormously intense, exhausting, but phantastic experience. The same holds true for caesarean delivery performed for medical or personal reasons. When I am in charge of a delivery, I encourage the woman to use every means of alleviating pain she likes to. If there is no medical need, I avoid episiotomy (cutting) as well as any other interference with the natural course of childbirth. |
