Hysteroscopy (inspection of the uterine cavity)Description: Before hysteroscopy, the cervical canal is gently dilated to a diameter of 6 millimeters. After introducing the camera through the narrow canal, the oval cavity opens and can be inspected. On close-up view, we see the tiny orifices of the fallopian tubes in the upper lateral corners. We make sure that no fibroids or polyps are present which could interfere with the implantation of an embryo. Fibroids and polyps could be removed by means of an electrical loop if necessary.
